FOODBEV MANUFACTURING SETA

Food and Beverages Manufacturing Sector Education and Training Authority

The official training authority for South Africa’s food and beverage industry. Government-established under the Skills Development Act.

Their Role: FoodBev Manufacturing SETA provides all accredited modules for our programme, ensuring every graduate meets national training standards for food business operations. They fund the programme, validate our curriculum, and connect graduates to industry opportunities across South Africa’s food and beverage sector.

The Partnership Impact: FoodBev Manufacturing SETA’s accreditation gives our graduates nationally recognised qualifications that open doors with municipalities, banks, employers, and event organisers. Their funding removes financial barriers for talented food entrepreneurs who couldn’t otherwise access professional training.

CITY OF JOHANNESBURG YOUTH DIRECTORATE

Their Role: The City of Johannesburg Youth Directorate provides economic development support, through access to municipal markets for DFTA graduates building food businesses in Johannesburg.

The Partnership Impact: City of Johannesburg Youth Directorate support streamlines the business formalisation process for graduates: information sessions with municipal divisions, direct engagement with the City, clearer pathways to municipal market access, events and festivals, and direct connection to City SMME development programmes.

PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN

Their Role: Proudly SA partners with DFTA because we build local food entrepreneurs who create jobs, use South African ingredients, and strengthen the local food economy.

The Partnership Impact: Association with Proudly SA gives graduates credibility, market access, and connection to a network of businesses committed to local economic development. It positions them as part of South Africa’s buy-local movement.

DStv DELICIOUS INTERNATIONAL FOOD AND MUSIC FESTIVAL

Their Role: The DStv Delicious Festival provides market access for DFTA graduates and mentorship through successful Delicious All Stars – traders who built profitable businesses over a decade at the festival.

The Partnership Impact: DFTA was established after observing traders build multimillion-rand businesses through DStv Delicious Festival access. We identified the gap: thousands of talented informal traders were locked out because they lacked training, licenses, and a professional setup. Our graduates get the opportunity to apply to trade at South Africa’s premier food festival, with direct market access that can generate significant revenue in concentrated periods.
